Oro Valley

HISTORY

Oro Valley is a family community with spectacular mountain views, wonderful schools, an excellent police force and expanding business and retail opportunities. The town also is rated one of the safest towns in Arizona, and has easy access to a world of recreational and cultural experiences in the neighboring metropolitan area.

BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY

Oro Valley is expected to double its size by 2010. Home to the Sheraton El Conquistador, a four-diamond resort, Oro Valley's major employers include the resort, two country clubs, Canguard Automation, Selectide, Honeywell, Securaplane, and Canyon Del Oro High School. Residents generally travel to Tucson for shopping, services and employment.

ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS

Catalina State Park, with its pine-covered mountains the Spaniards called "La Iglesia" or "The Church" for their cathedral-like appearance, is one of the area's scenic and recreational attractions. Short drives away are Picacho Peak State Park, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Old Tucson Studios, Saguaro National Monument West, San Xavier Mission, and Biosphere 2, a three-acre model of the earth's ecosystem. Oro Valley supports and encourages creative endeavors, and hosts an annual "Art in Oro Valley" Contest and Exhibition, a Concert of All Ages, a Choral Festival, and the Oro Valley Festival of the Arts.
